The power plant was fun to tour and it was cool to see how a city council meeting works from our view.

Agriculture and Government in Action Days

During the Agriculture Day I learned that agriculture runs the world.  The effect that agriculture has on the world is everywhere.  All of the people of the world have to eat something and agriculture provides all of the necessary food.  I was also informed that the amount of food in the world that agriculture can provide is getting less and less to feed the rising world population.

In the Government in Action Day I experienced how difficult and taxing being on a city council or being a mayor of a town.  I was surprised how the Fremont Power Plant operated.  It encouraged me how old and new technologies combine to provide the power for a community.  The work that the city council members and the mayor put in to the community was shocking to me.

Agriculture Day

I had a good time during the day, my favorite part was the cattle farm at the end of the day. I enjoyed looking at the cows. The hormel tour was alright, but seeing all the pigs was kind of creepy!

Government Day

Going to the power plant I expected something different inside. Learning how power is made for our city was interesting.  I never knew how big it was inside either. After the power plant when we were talking to all the chair people it got a little slow but toward the end the speakers were more interesting for me. The mock meeting was also interesting to hear what council members can and can not do.

I was surprised with how much I actually enjoyed the agriculture day. I learned lots of new things, and I also knew a few things. At Hormel I never expected to see some of the things I saw. Watching how everything is made was interesting. Going to the farms were probably my favorite part. I never knew that farm past Arlington was there. I was also surprised with how many cows they day.
