Brooke's Day of Service Post

I really enjoyed the December session. It was really fun to help out at the Salvation Army although it was snowing. The bell ringing portion was my favorite part. I'm looking forward to the January session.

Walker's Education Day Post

The second youth leadership academy was at Midland University. My favorite part was doing the phone survey and talking about the student leadership practices inventory. I also had a lot of fun going to etiquette lunch and going to the Midland speech 110 comm. Class.  I am looking for to the Christmas season and youth leadership Community service.

Nathan's Education Day Post

I thought the education day was a very fun day.  I learned something about college that I did not know before.  I enjoyed the panel discussion with the Midland people.  I really loved Warrior bingo even though it took me awhile to win.  I thought the lunch was kind of interesting, I did not know that there were so many rules for eating.  Talking with Mr. Hansen made me realize that nothing is set in stone and that you have to be willing to change.  I am very excited to ring bells the next time we meet.

Education Day post by Brooke

I really enjoyed spending the day on midlands campus and learning about the college. I also really liked talking one on one about my evaluation results and which ways I can improve in my leadership. The etiquette lunch was really interesting. It was fun listening to Mr. Hansen about his career path and how it's not what you know but who you know. I am looking forward to ringing bells next month!

Emily Belak - Community & Social Services

I think that the Social Service Day was very informational.  I learned a lot of new things in a period of only a day. Going to the Jefferson house to me it was an eye opener to see what some kids have to go through, but also it is amazing that there is a place that is safe for kids to go while they are trying to get integrated back into their families and daily lives.  Secondly, the Low Income Ministry Activity really made me realize how some people have to live. And that it is extremely hard for some people to be able to find enough money just to support themselves and their family members.  The Care Core tour showed me that sometimes people go through difficult times in their lives where they don't know where they are going to live or get their next meal.  Lastly, the panel discussion was also very informational.  It was interesting to hear the points of view of all of the different people that are involved with the community and social services.  So overall the day was very enlightening.
