Abby's post about Ag Literacy

On May 23rd the Youth Leadership Academy went to hooper and meet with different farmers. The first farmer grew crops and the told us about the new technology that is coming for the tractors. They bought a GPS that can remeber were they sprayed or planted and it also can drive it self. The GPS cost more than what most GPS's would cost but it was wourth every pennie. The second farmer was a farmer of a dairy farm he showed you how a cow gets milked with a machine instead of hand milking. He showed us the baby cows that was old enough to wean from it's mother. We saw how the mix the food and what they mix together. We got to go into a barn that had a cow in it the just got born. i never seen a newborn cow before that was the first time that I seen that. For the last farm that we went to was in dogde. That farm was a person that bought cattle from actions and other places and then the kept them until they were able to get killed for its meat.

Alexis's post about Ag. Literacy

May 23, 2012
Today has been pretty interesting.  We went to a farm where they talked to us about agriculture and how much wil be needed in the near future.  It really surprised me how the population of the earth right now is about 7billion and I think we will eventually reach 9billion within a few years. If that's the case we will need more farmers to grow crops and raise live stock to feed the growing population.

Abby's Experience on the Business & Economic Development Day

I didn't know that a lot of brownies was out of her kitchen and then moved to the space that she is now. She told us about how she started little and became bigger and has more orders than what she make in one day. When we went to the tribune I was surprise that they were going to ship the printer to another state after they just bought it not very long ago. I didn't know that the tribune helped different companies to help them get their business out in the web world.
